Join me, Luke Tscharke, and fellow Sony Advocate Eric Peng for this online session where we’ll share practical tips and techniques for low light outdoor photography. This session focuses on capturing compelling images in challenging light conditions, particularly in urban environments and evening settings, perfect for those interested in street, festival, and event photography.
Whether you’re planning to join us for our Dark Photo Walks in Hobart this June or simply want to improve your low light skills for any location, this session will provide valuable techniques applicable to various shooting situations.
What We’ll Cover
During this one-hour session, we’ll discuss:
- Practical techniques for handheld shooting in low light conditions
- When to use a tripod vs. shooting handheld
- Essential camera settings for low light environments
- Working with high ISO settings effectively
- Capturing movement and light in urban settings
We’ll also examine noise reduction techniques both in-camera and with software, helping you get cleaner images even when pushing your ISO higher. While this isn’t primarily a post-processing workshop, we’ll touch on some basic editing approaches that can enhance your low light images.
