Private Workshop - Single Session
South-East Dark Skies
One golden-hour block at a local spot - chase first light, or the last of the day.
Just you (and up to a couple of others), out shooting the best light of the day with me at a spot within about 45 minutes of Hobart. We choose the location to suit the conditions, and I'll walk you through everything - composition, exposure, filters and how I finish the shots in post.
Two ways to catch the light - same session, same price. We'll choose which to chase based on the conditions and what you most want to capture:
- One-on-one or a small group (up to 3), tailored to your level - first-timer to seasoned
- Reading the light and composing to it, working fast as the colour changes
- Long exposures and ND / grad filters for water, cloud and dynamic range
- A head start on editing - how I finish a golden-hour frame in post
How it works
Simple booking, weather-smart timing
Choose your dates and pay the deposit
Pick up to 3 preferred days that suit you. A $120 deposit holds your spot.
Booking approved
I confirm a date with you within 24 hours.
Weather check and balance
A day or two out we read the conditions, and you pay the balance only once the day is confirmed to go ahead.
Out shooting
We meet on location and make the most of the light.
Weather cancellation = full deposit refund. No risk to you, and no pressure on the go/no-go call.
Where we go
Golden-hour spots near Hobart
For a single session we stay within about 30 to 45 minutes. On the day I pick the spot that suits the cloud and the light - sometimes the drama is in the sky, sometimes the calm.
If you have somewhere you would love to shoot, tell me when you book and I will work it in where I can.
Reading the light. The best spot depends on the day - where the cloud is, where the sun breaks. I match the location to the conditions so we're standing in the right place when it happens.
Prefer the stars? See the Astrophotography Shoot - or head further afield on a Guided Photography Day.

Just bring yourself and your camera
Personal instruction

Equipment loan
No tripod, or want to try a body, lens or filters? Sony gear on request - no gear is no barrier.
Weather protected
Full deposit refund if the weather forces a cancellation. Zero risk to you.
All levels welcome
First shoot or hundredth - the session is built around what you want to get out of it.
A single session
One golden-hour block, home the same day. You sort your own travel and stay in Hobart.
Dawn sessions start early - warm layers and a thermos never hurt.
Optional add-ons
A little help either side of your shoot
Handy on any session, and split across your group they're a few dollars each. Add them when you book, or mention them when you enquire.
Planning call
+$60A Zoom before the session - we go through your goals, your gear and a plan for the conditions, so you turn up sorted and make the most of it.
Review call
+$60A Zoom afterwards - we go through your shots together and I share the post-processing steps to finish your best frames.
Add either on its own, or take both for $100. Normally $120 a session - this is my way of helping you get the most from your shoot.
